The Making of Our Lady of the Pillar Medical Center
Imus, Cavite is considered as one of the premier towns in the CALABARZON area. It is a Class A municipality where a large number of the entire population are migrants from Metro Manila. Residents of Imus enjoy the well organized Poblacion, the fresh air and the provincial life that one experiences here. Despite the provincial appeal, Imus is just 20 kilometers away from Metro Manila.
Even with a great number of Healthcare Professionals residing in Imus, it is difficult to imagine why there is no modern tertiary hospital existing in the town. More so, a hospital owned and operated by the doctors and residents of Imus. In the year 1998, a group of thirty young doctors from Imus and its neighboring towns heeded to this challenge. They bonded and shared a common vision of having a modern tertiary hospital to be built right in the heart of this premier municipality.
This group of young doctors is worthy to emulate. Armed with the common desire of providing the best healthcare delivery system for their “kababayans”, they have succeeded in putting up this five-story, 65-bed tertiary hospital. The Medical Staff are composed of competent and dedicated young Medical Practitioners from the locality with varied specialties. It is the dream of the group that the Our Lady of the Pillar Medical Center will not be just a haven for providing quality medical care for their fellowmen, but the hospital will also function as a center of total wellness for the entire community that it serves.
The group was called United Imus Doctors, Inc. to emphasize their place of origin. These doctors belong to different medical specialties in their own respective fields. Although none has the experience on hospital construction, the group faced the odds with a mission of building a modern tertiary hospital for the residents of Imus as their common motivation. To add to their resources, other private investors also from the community were tapped.
Our Lady of the Pillar Medical Center was named after the patroness of the town of Imus. Construction of the 100 bed hospital started in April 2001. It is located along Tamsui Avenue, Bayan Luma, Imus, Cavite, just a stone’s throw away from the town’s public market. The hospital building occupies a 1500 sq. meter lot with an adjacent 1,200 sq. meter lot devoted for parking.
After a year of construction, the hospital started to operate on May 12, 2002. It has a well- equipped Emergency Room Complex, four-bed Intensive Care Unit, two major Operating Rooms, two Delivery Rooms, a Caesarian Section Room, a state of the art Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, an Ophthalmology Operating Room, two minor Operating Rooms, and an Endoscopy Room.
